Dodgers Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy
Koufax did not pitch in the opening game of the 1965 World Series because
the game fell on Yom Kippur. Don Drysdale, who pitched in Koufax'
place, gave up 7 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
"I bet right now you are wishing that I was Jewish, too,"
-- Don Drysdale to manager Walt Alston

|Tips: If there was an all Jewish Baseball team...|
|Posted on Tuesday, May 03 @ 12:41:01 EDT |
Imagine if you could put together an all Jewish baseball team with the
best former Jewish major leaguers- how would they do? In 2001, Jonathan Tobin did just that in Big League Jews- Scouting the all-time Jewish baseball all-stars. Using the FoxSports Web site, Tobin compiled a
team via Fox’s Diamond Legends game, which
allows baseball fanatics to play an ultra-sophisticated, online version of
the old Strat-o-Matic Baseball board game.
Unfortunately the team didn't do too well. Perhaps if they had a group prayer session their luck will change.
