LEAGUE RULES

TIME:

Two 24 minutes halves. Running time except:

a) Last minute of 1st half
b) Last 4 minutes of 2nd half

Clock only stops on a whistle, not on a basket.

RULES:

1. Offensive team has 10 seconds to cross over half court, or else there will be a “10 second violation”.
2. Backcourt line is half court line.
3. There will only be 3 pt shots if there is a 3 point line. Duh!
4. There will be a 24-second clock only for the last 4 minutes of the 2nd half. The shot clock will be reset on:
a) A change of possession,
b) A kick ball (on the defense) or
c) A shot hitting the rim (or resulting in a basket)
5. Each team will have 2 time-outs in the 1st half & 3 in the 2nd half.

STARTING THE GAME:
The first game should start at 8:05. If a team cannot field 4 players by 8:10 the clock will be started and that team will lose both its time-outs from the first half. Once both teams have 4 players present the game can be started.
If one team has 5 players & the other has 4, it will be 5 on 4 until the latter team’s 5th player shows up.
The second game will start 5 minutes after the conclusion at the 1st game. The same rules will apply to the 2nd game.

REPLACEMENTS:
A team missing only one player must field the remaining five. A team missing more than one player must be able to field five players by finding replacements as talented as the least talented missing player and it must be okayed by the opposing captain.
(For example: if a team is missing a #1 & #5 player, they can only replace the #5 players with someone of equal or lesser talent. If a team is missing #1, #3, & #5, they can only replace #3 & #5...)
If you know ahead of time that you will not have 5 players, the captains of the two teams playing can agree on a sub.

If someone gets injured, he cannot be replaced, unless:

A)If it is done before the beginning of week #8 and
He is replaced for the season (no coming back)
B)Your team has 5 players that night & the injury makes it
4 healthy bodies. In that situation, injured player can only
be replaced for that game.

FOULS:
A player is disqualified on their 6th personal foul (technical = personal) except if a team doesn’t have a replacement for him. If so, the player will remain in the game, and each subsequent foul will result in a 2 shot foul (regardless of whether in the act of shooting or not). The opposing team will get two free throws and possession of the ball.

If 2 members of a team foulout, either player can continue play (substitutions are allowed) but the team will be charged with a 2 shot foul for each foul committed by that player. Players on a team who have not fouled out must be in the game (if others have fouled out).
FIGHTING:
If a player fights, he is automatically suspended for atleast one game (maybe more depending on the circumstances). It is to the commissioner's discretion to determine what constitutes a fight, and the commissioner has the final word on suspensions.

TECHNICALS:
If you receive 2 technicals, you are automatically ejected from the game. You do not pass go, do not collect $200, and you definitely don't have someone substituting in for you. If the ejection causes the team to only have 3 players, your team forfeits the game.
A technical foul on a player will result in two shots & possession of the ball for the opposing team. A 2nd technical foul on such a player will result in a disqualification for that individual even if his team doesn’t have a replacement for him.
An individual disqualified for two technical fouls will be suspended for the 1st half of the following week’s game. A second disqualification (for any reason) will be cause for a full game suspension and further disciplinary action to be reached by the captions.

OVERTIME:
Overtime will run 3 minutes.
Each team will have 1 time-out. A 24 seconds clock will run. Team fouls will be added to the 2nd half team fouls.

FOULS:
Teams shoot 1-and-1 on the 7th team foul and 2 shots on the 10th team foul and all fouls thereafter.

JERSEY’S:
Players must wear team shirts.

TRADES:
The trade deadline is subject to to the length of the season.
In order for a trade to be processed, the majority of the captains need to approve the trade (excluding the captains involved in the trade). If the vote is split 3-3 between the remaining 6 captains, Shapsie is the tie-breaker.

Tie Breakers-- The tie breaker rules for 2 way and 3 way ties are the same. 1) head-to-head 2) record vs. playoff teams 3) pt. differential (head to head) 4) pt differential vs. playoff teams
If any issue comes up that was not stated in these rules, the commissioner will rule on it. The commissioner's word is final!
